Tomorrow during the late morning, I will publish the story on another renewable energy source: algie. Then tomorrow night, the story will be about VFO and very cool organization that empowers people to reach higher toward their potential.
Miami is all about creating identity with their Red Jacket program. No, this is not about Bloods or Crypts.
This is about bringing the city together to improve the lives of the youth in Miami.
From addressing the drop-out status of youth in the
city to raising funds, City Year Miami creates and implements
"innovative solutions for the most pressing issues facing Miami-Dade
County school" (extracted on 24 March 2010 from http://www.cityyear.org/miami_ektid14523.aspx).
These
solutions help youth succeed in school and realize their potential. So
far, 89 corps members graduated from City Year Miami while serving
1,900 children with 139,400 hours of service.
City Year was founded by Michael Brown and Alan Khazei 20 years ago. The roommates
at Harvard Law School felt strongly that young people in service
could be a powerful resource for addressing our nation's most pressing
issues.
"Since 1988, City Year has been built on the belief that one person
can make a difference, and with the vision that one day service will be
a common expectation – and a real opportunity – for citizens all around
the world.
Since its founding in 1988, City Year has:
graduated more than 12,500 alumni;
served 1 million children;
completed more than 20 million hours of service;
and engaged more than 1,052,000 citizens in service" (extracted on 24 March 2010 from http://www.cityyear.org/dynamic_ektid392.aspx?amp;langtype=103).
"I serve because I believe children everywhere deserve an equal opportunity to succeed and be great" (Kristyn Bubser, City Year Miami Corps Member).
May each of us find a way to serve. May we support someone in succeeding and being great!Tomorrow during the late morning, I will publish the story on another renewable energy source: algie.
